Maryland Chapter 3
Thurs. March 31st, 2011
The meeting was called to order at 6:30. The Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence were observed. There were 18 members in attendance.
Secretary’s Report – Approved with changes
Treasurers Report – Read and approved
RED KNIGHTS TAGS –Curtis Waters has sent the applications to DMV. Once the tags are produced, DMV will send them directly to each member’s house.
AIR SHOW – There is a group selling food that would like to sell water and soda which, we are supposed to be doing. John Tartufo made a motion for RKMD3 to do all beverages. The motion was seconded by Bob Adkins and approved by all members in attendance.
2011 CONVENTION –
1. Bob Thompson discussed the convention agenda.
2. The hotel is working on a centralized registration system for the three hotels that will be used for the convention.
3. John Tartufo suggested 343 challenge coins be purchased and sequentially numbered for the lives lost on 9/11. These will be sold for $10 each. Motion to order the coins made by Ed Kukta and seconded by Bob Adkins. All members in attendance approved the motion.
WELCOME HOME – Our thanks to Ed Torbert and Curtis Waters, who escorted soldier Mike Knode home to Easton. Mike was returning from deployment in Iraq.
BANNER – John Tartufo suggested a banner be hung over the road in Ocean City for 9/11. If allowed, the town charges $50 to hang the banner, plus the banner cost. Ed Kukta made a motion to investigate the expense involved and purchase if within a reasonable cost. The motion was seconded by Bob Adkins and approved by the members in attendance.
MD. STATE PICNIC – The RKMD Association will hold a picnic on June 25th in Sudlersville, Md. At 10:30 there will be a ride to a winery. Food will be served at 12:30. Only $10 per person. This would make a beautiful fun ride for MD3.
MEMORIAL BRICKS – Dover Air Force Base will be placing memorial bricks for fallen soldiers at the base per Curtis Waters. A motion was made by Ed Kukta and seconded by Bob Adkins for RKMD3 to purchase one of the bricks. All members in attendance approved the motion.
The time and date of the next meeting will be sent by email or phone call. There may be a fun ride before or after the meeting.
