Smitty McGee’s

The meeting was called to order at Smitty McGee’s at 6:03. The Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence were not done due to other customers in the area. There were 8 members in attendance.

Secretary’s Report – Read and approved

Treasurers Report – Read and approved


Worlds Largest Poker Run – Discussed problems with the date due to the number of events that were taking place at the same time. Also there was a request to try to make the date in April for this event next year which is currently scheduled for June 11th or June 18th.

2011 Convention Sept. 6th through 11th – Bob Thompson said the Harrison Group would be the best option at this point due to the pricing and location to the boardwalk.

Ocean City Air Show – The members agreed to sell the beer at the event on June 5th and 6th. Bob is working on securing a spot to park bikes at the event and a sign up sheet was put together for members and extra manpower that are not members. Sunday RKMD3 will also be cooking food at OC Harley Davidson. John Tortufo and Curtis Andrews will be there with additional help needed.

Last Thursday of the month meetings – Bob questioned if anyone had a problem with using the last Thursday of the month for the RKMD3 meetings. There were no objections at this time.

Memorial Day Ride – Form up at 10:00 at McDonalds in Berlin for the ride to the memorial in Ocean Pines. Ed Torbert questioned about sending a group to the Wicomico Civic Center. In response Bob said he felt we should stick together to have a better showing at Ocean Pines which the membership did not object to.



RKMD Tag Update – Curtis Waters will be placing the order very soon since RKMD have exceeded the initial 25 tag requirement. John Tortufo made a motion for the State Association to reimburse RKMD3 the $300 spent to get the tax exempt status. The vote was 6 against the motion and 2 for the motion. Russell Staton then made a motion to discreetly talk to the Presidents of the other MD chapters to recoup some of the Md3 expense. This motion passed with a 5 to 3 vote.  


Memorial Day Weekend – Bob talked about the number of bikes that would be in town and the police would be watching for violations. Be aware of bikers from other groups. There will be a club barbeque following the Fireman’s Parade at John Tartufo’s house.

Phone Calling Tree – Discussion held about certain members calling a specific group of members to notify them or ask for their help with upcoming events. No decision was reached but several thought it was a good idea.

Shirts – A suggestion was made to not sell shirts at the Red Knights events due to the cost and the possibility of not recouping our costs. No resolution at this point.

Plaque Board – Teresa Laubach suggested a board be made up with plaques received and information about RKMD3 which can be put up at our events. No resolution at this point.


State Association Function – Event will be held Saturday, June 26th. How many members plan to attend? Four members plan on attending this event which is the first held by the newly formed state association.

There is a Kindness of Strangers event on July 20th and a Fraternal Order of Police event at Camp Barnes in August. Details will be given when available.


Next RKMD3 meeting will be held Thursday, June 24th at 6:00 at Delmar Diner
